Farmbot Data Code

The National Farmers Federation is the peak national body representing farmers and, more broadly, agriculture across Australia. It is one of Australia’s foremost and respected advocacy organisations. The NFF have developed the Farm Data Code to promote the adoption of digital technology, by ensuring that farmers have comfort in how their data is used, managed, and shared.

The Farm Data Code certification logo is a trust mark for farmers. Only products, projects, or services that comply 100% with the Code are certified, making it Australia’s most trusted mark for digital technology for Australian farms.

Farmbot was certified under the Australian Farm Data Code on 20th March 2024. By adhering to this stringent code means that all Farmbot customers can rest assured that their data is both ethically managed and securely stored.

About the code

The Farm Data Code was funded by the Australian Government, and developed by the National Farmers’ Federation Farm Data Working Group – bringing together farmers, researchers, industry experts and technology providers.

As Farmbot manages data on behalf of farmers, being compliant with the Code’s principles ensures that we adhere to the data management policies that keep sensitive information secure.

Benefits to farmers include:

  • Increased awareness and understanding of the ways in which providers are collecting, using, and sharing their farm data;
  • A framework to compare providers and inform negotiations about data terms and policies; and
  • Improvements to industry-wide data practices over time

Adopting the code

The Code is a voluntary code of conduct, and all product and service providers who manage farm data on behalf of farmers, either directly or further down the supply chain, are encouraged to comply with the Code’s principles.

Farmbot are proud to be one of many Australian AgTech providers supporting the protection of farm data by being certified by the Australian Farm Data Code.

Farmers can look out for the Certification Mark on providers’ products and promotional materials. The certification number on the Mark is unique to each product, project, or service, and can be used to look up Summary Audit Reports.
