Tess is our chief operating officer and customer service star who chats and helps solve farmers issues daily! She hears first hand the successes and potential improvements of the Farmbot products and plays a hand in developing updates to capitalise on such feedback. Where were you born and bred? Tess was born in La Trobe valley in Victoria and spent her first few years in the Gippsland region before relocating to Melbourne and eventually hopping over the border to NSW. What is your background/ previous experience? Prior to joining the Farmbot team Tess worked in events and office management roles. This is where Tess developed her people skills and enjoyed the challenges that came with communicating to and managing people from all walks of life. “The people skills have naturally translated to my role as Farmbot Customer Service Officer”, helping her as she chats with farmers from all over Australia What does a ‘day in the life’ look like for you? Tess’ day starts well before she enters the office, often catching the sunrise or hitting the gym, before bundling her kids up and dropping them to school. “I definitely grab a coffee before I sit down”, the well deserved caffeine hit powering her through catching up on customer queries and calls. “The majority of my day in the office is spent handling customer queries and ensuring new orders are processed quickly,” says Tess, “plus we are constantly workshopping new features with the development team”. And with so much first hand feedback from customers going direct to Tess, her input in improving the experience for customers is invaluable. What do you love most about working at Farmbot? Being the first port of call for our customers when they call the office, it’s no shock that talking to Farmbot users is Tess’ favourite part of her job. “I love the daily interactions with our customers” Tess says, “knowing that the product we have out in the field for them and hearing first hand how it makes their life easier- It’s quite fantastic and I get to hear this alot which I really like” What excites you about the Australian agtech sector and Farmbot? For Tess it is the growing number of agtech solutions and adoption rates of such that excites her about the sector in Australia. Hearing first hand how technology can save farmers time and money and the potential for such benefits to reach farmers in all corners of Australia makes it an exciting space to be as the industry spreads even further. What are you reading/watching/listening to? Tess enjoys a wide range of books and tv series, but she is “seriously hanging out for the next season of Yellowstone to come out” One place you want to visit in your life? “I’d say the next place I want to visit is WA. I’d really love to hire a campervan and travel with the kids for a month to explore.” Tess says “We love camping and getting off the grid and so this is on my list of things to do ASAP”.
